Reno rescue for the Emergency Department playground31 May 2020
As a special Gold Appeal treat, an all-star renovation team from Aaron's Outdoors and the Flying Spinner Gallery have joined forces for a very special project close to their hearts.
In only two days, the team have transformed the old and rundown playground at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick's Emergency Department’s into the perfect sanctuary for sick kids.
This magical makeover includes a fully-furnished beach shack with underwater views of fishes and mermaids and an anchored pirate ship ready for sick kids to set sail.
The incredible transformation will help up to 36,000 kids who visit the Emergency Department every year, be kids first and patients second. For recently diagnosed oncology patient, Carys, the new playground will also help make Hospital visits and treatment that little bit easier.
Not forgetting the Hospital’s healthcare heroes, the team also created a garden oasis for staff to spend their breaks outside, enjoying the sunshine and some much-needed fresh air.
For Aaron and Bec, the decision to donate their time and resources was a no brainer. The pair both wanted to create a special space for families doing it tough.
We recently invited Channel Nines A Current Affair to the Hospital to capture all the action. Watch the tired playground transform into a treasured escape below.
