Over $1.6 million raised for sick kids!

8 June 2020

Gold Telethon Appeal 2020 has raised over $1.6 million for sick kids and their healthcare heroes at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. This overwhelming success was all thanks to you!

Today, our supporters state-wide tuned in to Channel 9 for the two-hour special broadcast of Gold Telethon. The wonderful afternoon of fun was kicked off to a golden start when host David Campbell was reunited with his Telethon side-kick Ollie. Joined by Belinda Russell, the terrific trio welcomed guests and celebrated Ollie’s own fundraising challenge #TriForGold.

Together, we sang and danced the afternoon away with wonderful performances from the Wiggles, Guy Sebastian, The Reubens and Delta Goodrem. Some mind-boggling magic tricks from the Three Black Ties left us all feeling a little puzzled, but the true highlight was the touching stories from staff, patients and their young families in Hospital.

Nicola Stokes, CEO at Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, said: "As a nation, we’ve gone through change and uncertainty. But in tough times, sick kids don’t give up, and today as a community we’ve shown that we don’t give up on them either. Raising over $1.6 million for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick will give the gift of research breakthroughs, state-of-the-art equipment, plus world-class clinical care – but most of all it gives the gift of hope. That’s worth its weight in gold.”

A special mention to our incredibly generous Gold Telethon partners for showing sick kids they can still count on your kindness. The team at Bunnings Warehouse donated $250,000 to the appeal going above and beyond with an incredible gift to support the patients and staff at the Hospital.

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Gold Telethon Appeal.
