Summer Art Exhibitions 201921 November 2019
Join us for the opening of our Summer Art Exhibitions on Thursday 5 December which will see five incredible displays fill the corridor walls of Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
For some, the Hospital becomes a second home and our exhibitions fill the corridors with colour and creativity helping to distract and relax patients, families and staff.
Curated by our Art Program, the free exhibition is the last rotation for 2018 and will run from 5 December 2019 until 21 February.

About the art exhibitions
“In Our Hearts and Minds” is an exhibition created by the Ngala Nanga Mai pARenT Group Program - a participatory arts in health program which uses art as a tool to facilitate access to health, educational services and support for young Aboriginal parents and their children in the La Perouse area. The exhibition will feature a collection of paintings on canvas produced by the group members, exploring their connection to place, family and culture.
BOTANI-COLOUR is a vibrant exploration of Australian Botanicals by Kate Grebert. Kate has spent the past year studying Australian native plants with detailed ink drawings. BOTANI-COLOUR builds on these studies, creating a colourful, joyful and modern interpretation of Australian Flora.
I Am Happy When... A collection of digital artworks produced collaboratively by Mary Sunarho and her 11-year-old son, Jonathan, who has a diagnosis of autism. Together they use art as a way to develop a meaningful connection with each other. Jonathan often draws inspiration from their daily life, from his favourite things to family holidays or how he’s feeling. "I Am Happy When..." is a represents the joyful memories the share as they find new ways of living a life in the midst of challenges.
Kids for Kids is an array of artworks created by student from Randwick Public School. Using different techniques and media, their pieces draw on observations from imagined and natural worlds. The collection strives to connect with viewers, especially the kids, and make a positive difference to people’s experience of hospital.
Little Sydney Lives is the City of Sydney’s annual children’s photography competition. Cheeky, delightful and often surprising, their images provide insight into the lives and imaginations of our junior go-getters.
