Light Up Christmas Appeal Launches with a cracker of a party!

2 December 2019

Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick was filled with joy and cheer today, as we celebrated the launch of our annual Light Up Christmas Appeal to brighten the lives of sick kids.

Staff and patients were delighted to see the hospital’s foyer magically transformed into a festive wonderland, thanks to our wonderful helpers from Dashing. Overnight, reindeers and gingerbread men suddenly appeared to help guide our youngest patients on the day. Our balloon artists and face painters dressed all for the occasion, with inflatable red and white hats and beaming smiles to match.

Ausgrid also kindly sent a team of elves to help with the BBQ and presented a very generous donation of $15,000. The team have supported the Foundation’s Appeal for three consecutive years and today helped with the ‘Big Switch On.’

The annual “Big Switch on” of the Christmas tree, marks the official launch of the campaign. Ausgrid was joined by CEO Nicola Stokes and long-term hospital patient, Raphael to help flick the switch. Despite spending the majority of his life in hospital, Raph’s bright smile and cheeky personality made him the perfect candidate to light the tree on behalf of all patients.

You too can light up Christmas and help sick kids like Raph, by donating to our Light Up Christmas Appeal
