Coles raises $310,000 for sick kids

31 July 2020

Coles shoppers across NSW have raised an incredible $310,000 in just two weeks by picking up a $2 Curing Homesickness donation cards at the check-out, showing small acts of kindness really can make a big difference.

The NSW community rallied behind the cause in support of their local children’s hospital and money raised will help fund a dedicated oncology Child Life Therapist and a Telehealth Co-ordinator in Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. The role of the Telehealth Co-ordinator helps provide care for children living in rural and remote NSW who can’t easily get to a hospital, like Beni who otherwise would have to travel the 485km to Sydney for appointments.

Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation CEO, Nicola Stokes, thanked Coles customers for digging deep to help support sick kids in hospital.

“I can’t thank Coles shoppers enough for getting behind this important initiative to help sick kids particularly during these challenging times,” she said.

“Funds raised will help engage vital health specialists at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead to help support sick kids, especially children with cancer and children receiving care who live in regional and remote NSW.”

Thank you to Coles and everyone who added a $2 donation card to their shopping basket!
