C2N’s new mural25 June 2020
Something super special has been in the works for a little while for C2N. Last week, the Art Program transformed the Oncology Department’s blank wall into an amazing artwork for staff, patients and their families to enjoy.
The new masterpiece features several drawings from the Art Program’s workshops of Australian fauna and flora- created by the Hospital’s very own little artists. Patients and siblings of all ages have helped transform the space by drawing their favourite endangered species, like 16-year-old Maya and her Regent Honeyeater.
Their pictures of animals like a cassowary, wallaby and black cockatoo have all been combined to create a single artwork, by the incredible illustrator and long-term Art Program volunteer Cate James.
Her artwork capturing kid’s passion and love for art was magically brought to life thanks to the wonderful team at Signs4You and 11-year-old Keela. The families’ junior sales representative and former patient urged her parents to get involved after hearing about the project.
Keela’s mum Suzanne shares “As a family we have had a close connection with the hospital through our beautiful daughter Keela. We always knew we wanted to give back in any way we could. Keela’s idea to donate a print to the hospital was something that seemed to fit perfectly for us both as a family and with our business.”
A heart-warming thank you to everyone involved for making a positive difference to the lives of sick kids on C2N!
