A rosy gift for our Healthcare Heroes

25 May 2020

The overcast sky and drizzly weather couldn’t rain on our High St. parade when Foundation staff, turned florists, handed out 50 beautiful roses to the dedicated frontline staff at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

Thanks to the support of POHO flowers, nurses, doctors and physiotherapists (to name a few) were gifted hand-wrapped flowers with a heart-warming “thank you” message attached. Each card was personally sent in by members of the Foundation’s community who thanked staff for their hard work, kindness and compassion during this uncertain time.

The Hospital teams were delighted by the thoughtful gesture - so much so, all the flowers were handed out in only 10 minutes!

Verity Luckey, Director of Nursing, commented: “Our staff have been working around the clock to ensure our patients and families continue to be well cared for. Now more than ever it is wonderful to see the overwhelming kindness of the community, and their acknowledgement of our hardworking staff."

Our Director of Fundraising, Olivia Jary, shares: As part of this year’s Gold Appeal, we’re celebrating all the ways, big or small, people can show their support and make a difference to the lives of sick kids. We wanted to start by showing our appreciation of the healthcare heroes who work at the Hospital and hope each rose helped to brighten their day.”
