The Art Program is working with the Hospital to deliver creative exhibitions for the benefit of our current patients, families and staff. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions put in place to manage COVID-19, we are unable to invite families and guests to the Hospital to view these displays. However, many of our exhibitions will be available to view online. Please view the below exhibitions.

The fourth and final rotation of exhibitions for 2020 will see five incredible displays fill the corridors of the Hospital from December until February 2021.

About the art exhibitions

Hospital’s Got Talent!

All across the Randwick campus of Hospitals, there are talented individuals how provide the very best of services to patients and families. Hidden among them, are individuals who also have artistic talents. Hospital’s Got Talent! is an exhibition at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick (SCH) that showcases artworks made by staff from the Randwick campus of hospitals and support organisations.

The Saunders Garden Project with LIVEWIRE

The patients in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit at SCH, in collaboration with the LIVEWIRE Team have been busy planting a new garden in their department. ‘The Saunders Garden Project’ documents this project with a collection of resin artworks comprised of flowers, leaves and fruits collected from Randwick and the surrounding suburbs.

LIVEWIRE is the Starlight Children’s Foundation’s adolescent program and is delivered across major paediatric hospitals nationally.

Secret Garden

Secret Garden A love for birds often starts when you are very young. In the Secret Garden, mother and daughter artist duo Isabelle Boreham & Melanie Beresford (La Source Australia Art Studio), take you on a journey to discover the majesty of Australia’s birdlife. Their vibrant colours and playfulness are such a delight. This is the beauty the artists attempt to capture as they share the joy that birds bring to our world.

At Home with Maple

Sonny Lee explores his experience of fatherhood as he embarks on a part time work arrangement to care for his daughter. The exhibition chronicles the many little moments that make up this magical time; the mess, the joy, the hard, and the playful.

Animal Dream Lands

Having spent time in Hospital as a child and being an environmentalist, Sydney based illustrator Vanessa Wright has explored how dreams can transport sick children and endangered animals to their favourite places. For a sick child this could be spending time with family at home, or for an endangered animal, acres of lush and abundant habitat. “Animal Dream Lands” also features poems by poems by Katie Manekshaw.

About the Art Program

The Art Program uses the visual arts in all forms to transform Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick into a place of wonder and respite, creating dialogues between artists and patients. Through the Collection and Exhibition Program, the Art Program also provides opportunities for emerging artists to showcase their talents.
